December 26, 2012
Kim and I went down to the clinic today to get our schedules. Of coarse it had to be a blizzard outside but we took it as an adventure. The first medication, oddly enough, that they put us on is Birth Control. Birth control is commonly used by fertility specialists to help schedule and coordinate treatment cycles. For example, at IVF1, our in-vitro fertilization (IVF) patients are grouped together. A group will start treatment every two weeks. If a woman has her period begin more than a few days before a start date, she will be placed on birth control pills for up to two weeks. This prevents eggs from developing and allows them to start her treatment at any time. Im not use to taking any sort of birth control. Not having a uterus (sadly) is a pretty reliable form of BC. So needles to say I gained 20 freaking pound!!! That's right 20 big lbs!! ahh how is that possible. Seriously how depressing is that. Its like I was pg and when I'm pg I can't stop eating. Ahhh nuts. Although, I would do anything to have another baby, even if it meant gaining weight.

Along with the birth control they put Jay, myself and Kim on Doxycycline. I believe they do this to make sure you don't get infection since they are inserting foreign items through your cervix (especially Jay's...lol)
You have to eat quick a bit before you take the doxycycline. I found out the hard way and up-chucked pretty quick.
